According to the critics, it was Anna Kendrick’s best role throughout her career. The two main parts in the performance of the musical on the Nova Scena stage in our Theatre are alternately played by: Weronika Bochat/Natalia Krakowiak and Łukasz Zagrobelny/Rafał Drozd.
“The Last Five Years”is an one-act story of a married couple. The two protagonists –Cathy, an aspiring actress and Jamie, a novelist – tell a story of their five-year-long relationship which ends in them parting their ways. The drama is perfectly emphasised by the music, which is a mix of several styles (pop, jazz, rock). The musical pieces are very emotional and they reflect the character of the protagonists and their relationship – sometimes they are lyrical, sometimes aggressive. The inventive stage design and impressive lighting also play an important part. All the elements of the play fit together perfectly, which creates an exceptional atmosphere.
