PREMIERE: 15.11.2013
The running time is 1 hr 30 mins.
„The Trial” is the first attempt at showing Kafka’s creations through literary song. As a paradox, the problems raised in his creativity, are very close to the dilemmas of today’s young generation. It concerns the sense of feeling lost in the complexities of today’s world. As a book on the Polish school curriculum list “The Trial” is considered a difficult read. It seems though, that by presenting the story through a musical it manages to get across to the younger generation, a lot better – it hits familiar strings and provokes discussion.
ROMA Musical Theatre’s aim in staging this musical is the possibility of comparing Kafka’s surreal view of the world with our modern reality, and discovering the similarities and connections. The young person, who this show is aimed at, through its figurative adaptation and interpretation of the story, will have the chance to identify with the main character. It will give them a wider, but also critical view of the “adult” world in which they will soon be taking their first steps.
